Castle in Gradisca D'Isonzo, Gorizia, Friuli Venezia Giulia

Imposing group of buildings , mostly abandoned and poorly maintained , erected by the Venetian Republic in 1400 for the defense of the Turkish invasions. Currently Italian state property . The castle complex is surrounded by mighty walls bastions diamond-shaped in lot of square meters  11.511.  It was expanded under Austrian rule . The castle is completely enclosed by stone structures very thick and consists of six buildings :

1 ) Palace of the Captain

2 ) Venetian Arsenal

3 ) Former barracks La Longa

4 ) Former Church of St. Joseph

5 ) Former Barracks Autriaca

6 ) Former Command XI regiment bersagliesi

Total floor area of approx 1750 square meters
